CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College softball team was selected to compete in the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Division III tournament as the seventh seed in the eight-team field as announced by the organization on Monday.

Elms (22-14 overall) will travel to No.  2 Brandeis University (18-17 overall) on Wednesday, May 11 at 4:30 p.m.  This is the program's second appearance in the ECAC Championship with its last coming in 2005.

For the third consecutive season, the Blazers finished 14-2 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) and earned an appearance in the conference tournament title game. Elms, playing as the second seed in the 2011 tournament, downed No. 3 Mitchell College twice to earn a berth in this season's championship contest before losing to top-seeded Lesley University, 3-1 which earned the league's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.

Brandeis won five of its final seven games to close out its regular season, and posted a doubleheader split with Bowdoin College in its most recent outing on April 29.
