McBride, Meeker Garner NECC Weekly Awards

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Elms College senior softball players Alison McBride (East Providence, R.I.) and Destinee Meeker (Bantam, Conn.) earned New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) weekly accolades as announced by the league office on Monday.

McBride batted .571 (12 for 21) with five runs, nine RBI and an inside-the-park home run en route to her first NECC Hitter of the Week honor. McBride and the Blazers finished regular season play with a 6-2 record for the week and claimed the second seed in the 2011 NECC Championship tournament and a first round bye. McBride hit safely in all but one contest including two multiple hit games. She slugged .714 and had a .625 on base percentage.

Meeker tossed 23.1 innings and registered a sensational 0.60 ERA during the week. Meeker only allowed two runs on 16 hits and fanned 17 and scattered four walks. She went 3-1 on the week and added a save against Becker College. This is Meeker's third pitcher of the week award of the season.
