Cross Country Closes Season At NCAA Regional Championship

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Elms College men's and women's cross country squad closed out the 2016 season on a high note at the 2016 NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships, held at Stanley Park Saturday afternoon.

On the women's side, junior Sarah Tatgenhorst (Winterport, Maine) shattered her previous record in the 6k event by 32 seconds with a time of 24:48. Sophomore Mary Kirsimagi (Stephentown, N.Y.) posted the fourth-best mark in program history with a time of 27:15. Junior Sarah Kaczenski (Northfield, Mass.) registered a time of 28:53, followed by freshman Emma Morton (Southwick, Mass.) at 29:14 and freshman Ariah Willemain (Belchertown, Mass.) at 29:58. Freshman Emily Guillerault (East Granby, Conn.) ran her fastest pace of the season with a time of 31:02.

For the men, freshman Richie Hernandez (North Branford, Conn.) posted a time of 30:50, while senior Joshua Diaz Rolon (Chicopee, Mass.) closed out his collegiate career posting his second consecutive personal best with a time of 31:19.

The Blazers have concluded competition for the 2016 season.
