Men’s and Women’s Swimming Complete Action at the NEISDA Championships

Day Three Results 

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. – The Elms College men's and women's swim teams completed action at the three-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vt.

The men's squad finished in sixth place in the field of 11 teams with a total of 310.5 points, while the women's team notched 239 points and placed 15th out of 21 teams. Keene State College won both the men's and women's championships as the men's squad amassed 1593 points while the women's team scored 1003.5 points.

Blazers' senior Tessa Dudunake (Northampton, Mass.) was honored as the Senior High Point Swimmer for 2012-13. The award is given to the graduating senior who has scored the most points at the season-ending NEISDA Championships during the course of that swimmer's career.

Preliminaries

In the preliminaries, junior Keegan Goan (Westbrook, Maine) set a new school record in the 100-yard individual medley (56.37) and senior Emalee Furtek (Ludlow, Mass.) shattered a school record in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:35.56.

Finals

In the finals, Goan lowered his school record in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 56.26 and placed second overall in the event, while the relay squad of freshman Ethan Etheridge (Pawtucket, R.I.), senior Mark Gehring (West Springfield, Mass.), Goan and junior Aaron Starke (Chicopee, Mass.) lowered the school record in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:21.27.

Junior Devon DeGrazia (Westport, Mass.) set a new school mark in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:39.57.
