HOW IT HAPPENED
At the start of the first half, Elms would come out strong with a layup made by junior forward RJ Mayfield (Springfield, Mass), which would put the first points on the board. Then junior guard Aden Goffe (New Haven, Conn.) would make another layup for the Blazers. Goffe would put four more points on the board before graduate student forward Neilon Bridgeman (Brooklyn, N.Y.) would make a three point jump shot. After Regis took the lead, Elms would close the gap with a three point jump shot made by Mayfield. Then senior forward/center Addison Phifer (Hadley, Mass.) would make a layup for the Blazers. Phifer would make a three point jump shot which was followed by a defensive rebound made by Goffe. Junior forward Adam Sarlan (Chicopee, Mass.) would then be able to make a jump shot. Mayfield was able to make a layup up before a back and forth procession between both teams. Then senior guard/ forward Aaron Sanchez (the Bronx, N.Y.) made a layup, but then was fouled and would make a free throw shot. Sanchez would then make an offensive rebound, but was fouled again and would make two out of the two free throw attempts. After Regis put more points on the board and still held the lead, sophomore guard Andrew Ciaglo (Hadley, Mass) made an offensive rebound, which gave Mayfield the opportunity to make a layup. After the Pride got the ball back, Bridgeman would block the ball and get a rebound. Ciaglo would pass the ball to Mayfield and he would make a layup, which would only put two points behind Regis. Goffe was able to make a defensive rebound and passed the ball to Mayfield, who was able to make a jump shot, which would tie the game, 33-33. Regis was able to take the lead again, but Goffe would tie the game with a jump shot. Unfortunately, Regis was able to put up two more points before the end of the half, and would hold the lead 37-35 going into the second half.
At the start of the second half, we would see a similar narrative where the Blazers put the first points on the board made by Goffe with a jump shot. Regis would take the lead again, but Goffe would get a defensive rebound and then would pass it to Ciaglo who was able to make a three point jump shot. Ciaglo was able to make another three point jump shot, which put Elms in the lead. After a foul made by the Blazers, Elms would answer back with a three point jump shot made by Mayfield. After Regis closed the gap, Ciaglo was able to make a three point jump shot, which was followed by two layups made by Sanchez and Goffe. Sanchez was able to make a defensive rebound and passed it to Goffe, who would make a layup. After a rebound, Sarlan was able to make a layup, but was then fouled and would make the free throw. Sarlan was able to make another layup. That was followed by a team defensive rebound made by Elms and Sanchez was able to make a layup after he rebounded the ball. Sachez was then fouled and would make both free throw attempts. After the Blazers get the ball back, sophomore guard Jaiden Lopez (Lebanon, Conn,) would get the rebound and would pass it to Mayfiedl who would make a three point jump shot. Ciaglo would get fouled and would make both free throw attempts. The Blazers would still hold the lead with 6 minutes left of the second half, 71-58, after Ciaglo made a layup. After Regis put two more points on the board, Sanchez would steal the ball from the Pride, and was able to make a three point jump shot. Goffe would make a jump shot, which was followed by a jump shot made by Ciaglo. Then Goffe would be fouled and would make one out of the two free throw attempts. Ciaglo would then be fouled and would make both free throw attempts. Then with a little over a minute left of the second half, Sarlan would be fouled and would make one out of the two free throw attempts. Regis would get the ball, but then Ciaglo would steal the ball. However, he was fouled and would make both free throw attempts. After a team defensive rebound made by Elms, Sanchez would be fouled and would make one out of the two free throw attempts. Regis would foul Elms again and Sarlan would make one out of the two free throw attempts. At the end of the game, Ciaglo would make a defensive rebound. Elms would come back during the second half and would take home the win against Regis, 86-70.
