NEWARK, N.J. -- Michal Ohradka and Tyler Barney combined for 29 points but it wasn't enough as the Elms College men's basketball team fell 81-60 at Rutgers-Newark on Saturday in the opening round of the John K. Adams Tip-Off Classic.
Ohradka poured in 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting and Barney went 4-of-6 from the field to add 14 more. The duo went a combined 3-for-3 from 3-point range and 6-of-7 at the free throw line.
The Scarlet Raiders got a lift from Mark Thomas and Chase Barneys, who each scored 15 points.
Elms shot 50.0 percent (11-of-22) from the field in the first half but cooled off considerably in the second, going 10-of-26 (38.5 percent). The Blazers (0-2) shot 43.8 percent from the field for the game but couldn't keep pace with Rutgers-Newark, which connected on 56.3 percent for the game.
The Scarlet Raiders also held an advantage in the paint where they out-scored Elms 40-24 and out-rebounded the Blazers 32-26.
The Blazers will face Hunter in the John K. Adams consolation game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., before Rutgers-Newark takes on Marywood University in the championship game.
