Silva Selected to Participate in 2011 NCAA Achieving Coaching Excellence Program

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Elms College head men's basketball coach Ed Silva was recently selected to participate in the 2011 NCAA Achieving Coaching Excellence (ACE) Program which is administered by the NCAA Student Athlete Affairs department in partnership with the Black Coaches& Administrators (BCA). The program will take place beginning Sunday, June 5-8 in Indianapolis, Ind.

The ACE Program will provide participants an opportunity to engage and interact with current NCAA head basketball coaches, directors of athletics and leaders involved in intercollegiate athletics. The selected participants will receive training and education in the areas of leadership, communication, campus relations, media, community involvement and program management.

"I have always thought that good teachers are lifelong students. When I found out about the ACE Program offered by the BCA and NCAA, I saw it as a can't-miss opportunity to grow as a coach and leader," Silva stated about the opportunity to participate. "I know I will come away from the four days with some great insight and concrete applications that will help me build a stronger overall program here at Elms. Additionally, I look forward to the interaction with other coaches, both men and women, from around the country. Some of the best learning environments happen in non-structured settings when a number of people with a common interest share their experiences."
