Uschmann Named Rookie of the Week for Second Time This Season

WINTHROP, MA - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has announced their weekly award selections for the week ending on March 24th, Monday evening.

Elms College athletes received one award in men's volleyball and three honor roll selections in baseball, men's lacrosse, and volleyball. 

First-year Nick Uschmann (Agawam, MA) was solid on the attack for Elms this week as the team went 2-1. He averaged 2.73 kills per set, while swinging at a .390 clip. After producing five kills against Sage and six against Wentworth, Uschmann smashed 19 kills in a 3-1 victory over Dean. Ushmann was also a presence at the net, picking up four blocks, including three against the Leopards.

Three individuals were selected in their respective sports. In baseball, junior Henry Rondon (Ansonia, CT) was selected to their honor roll after throwing six scoreless innings with five strikeouts, and allowing two hits and five walks to earn a 6-0 win over Anna Maria. In men's lacrosse, first-year Luciano Jordan Canino (Dalton, MA) scored nine goals on the week, including seven in a conference victory over Mitchell. In men's volleyball, first-year John Bellafronte (Enfield, CT) recorded 1.00 blocks per set in a 2-1 week. Blocked 11 shots in total across three matches including four solo stops and seven assists.
