Basua Named GNAC Rookie of the Week in the First Week of Selections
CHICOPEE, MA- Elms College Women's Soccer first year Emily Basua (Oxnard, CA) has been named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the first week of games selection.
The Blazers opened up their first weekend of games competing against the Suffolk University Rams on Friday, Sept. 1st falling 2-1 and Sunday, Sept. 3rd on Leary Field against the SUNY Canton Kangaroos with a 4-0 final. First year forward, Basua did not take too long to get adjusted to the collegiate level of play as she knocked in the first Blazer goal of the season against the Rams on Friday. She continued her offensive drive by knocking in two more goals on Sunday against the Roos securing 3 out of the 5 goals the Blazers cashed in over the first weekend of games.
Basua started in one of the two games played so far this season for the Women's Soccer team, she has recorded three goals out of four shots in total.
The Blazers are back in action on Wednesday where they will host the Norwich Cadets on Leary Field for their first conference match up of the season!
