Blazers Snatch Two GNAC Athlete of the Week Selections

CHICOPEE, MA -The Elms College Women's Basketball team and the Women's Swim team both had athletes awarded a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Athlete of the week selection.

Jade Lewis a first year from Orlando, FL has found herself a spot in the GNAC Rookie of the Week honor for her second time this winter season. Lewis had another outstanding performance this week as she helped lift the Blazers to a 2-1 non-conference game week. The first year gaurd posted a 60 point week, averaging 20 points a game cashing in 23 to start the week against the Lesley Lynx. Not only did she consitantly hit shots, number 12 aslo got busy with the boards and even dished out a steady 4.6 asissts per game during the week of Nov. 13-Nov. 19th. 

Lewis has started in all five games this season, her and the team went on a three game win streak before falling to the Coast Gaurd Bears at the Gordon Basketball Tournamnet this past weekend. The Blazers are currently sitting with a 3-2 record, they won't enter Conference play till December.

GNAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week Release

DeAngela Fobbs (Bowie, MD) has been a core swimmer for the Blazers this season as she makes sure her presence is known in the lanes as she secures multiple first places finishes at the meets. This past week Fobbs had a stellar meet against the Albertus Magnus Falcons to help the Blazers cruise to their first conference victory of the season.

The grad student swam to victory in both the 50 Yard Butterfly and the 100 Yard Backstroke against the Falcons. At the conference meet Fobbs broke the school record for best time in the 50 Yard Fly by .41 miliseconds to set the new record at 27.96 seconds.
