Women's Soccer Falls to Emerson in ECAC Semifinals

BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman Paige Haley netted a pair of goals to help pace the seventh-seeded Emerson College women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over third-seeded Elms in a semifinal round game of the 2015 ECAC Division III Women's Soccer Tournament played at Wentworth Institute of Technology's Sweeney Field.

With the win the Lions improve to 13-6-2 on the season and will take on fourth-seeded University of New England in tomorrow's championship at2:00 p.m. The Nor'Easters defeated top-seeded Wentworth, 2-0, in the first semifinal. The Blazers see their season come to an end with a 16-5-2 record.

Emerson came out of the gates flying as Haley took the game's first shot in the third minute. While that shot went high, she would record the only goal her team needed 1:25 later when she and her teammates took advantage of an open net. Senior Mollie Coye played a ball from a defender to Haley inside the box where she pushed a shot inside the right post.

The Lions, who would have a 10-3 shot advantage in the first half, almost doubled their lead in the 31st minute when Haley's one-timer from in front ricocheted off the post.

Haley netted her second of the game and 12 of the season at 60:15 when she blasted a rocket from the top left corner of the box which round the upper right corner of the net.

Junior Melanie Escobar made three saves in recording the shutout while senior Alexa Rinaudo (Bellmore, N.Y.) made eight stops for Elms. Emerson had a 22-11 shot advantage while Elms had a 4-3 edge on corner kicks.
