NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The Elms College women's soccer team continued their early season roll, edging host MCLA, 1-0, in non-conference action at Shewcraft Field Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Blazers improve to 3-0 on the season, while MCLA drops to 1-2 overall.

After a scoreless first half of play, the Blazers cracked the scoreboard in the 51st minute as sophomore Mackenzie LaRochelle (Chicopee, Mass.) intercepted a goal kick from MCLA junior goalkeeper Kathryn Daly (South Cairo, N.Y.) and launched an arching shot from 30 yard out over the head of Daly to put the Blazers up 1-0.

The Trailblazers had opportunities to even the score late with a re-direct from junior Natalie Caney (Belchertown, Mass.) sailing over the Elms goal in the 75th minute, followed by a failed free kick from freshman Lauren Mangiardi (Pittsfield, Mass.) in the final five minutes, as the Blazers wrapped up the 1-0 victory.

The Blazers doubled the Trailblazers in the shot column, 16-8, during the contest. Elms senior keeper Alexa Rinaudo (Bellmore, N.Y.) made a pair of saves, while Daly stopped a game-high nine shots.

The Blazers will return to the pitch this weekend for the Erinn K. Brozman Cup, hosted by Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York. Elms will face host Hartwick Saturday at 4:00 p.m., followed by a meeting with Utica Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
