Vurno Claims Back-to-Back NECC Rookie of the Week Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College freshman Vanessa Vurno (Salem, Conn.) was selected as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday morning. Vurno has been named rookie of the week in five of the seven weeks awarded this season.

Vurno racked up 19 points in three games last week to lead the Blazers attack. In a battle with Rhode Island, Vanessa tallied seven points, netting a career-high five goals with two assists. During a 17-14 win over Mass Maritime, Vanessa registered a career-high nine points, matching a career-high with five assists, paired with four goals. Vurno added a hat trick in the Blazers comeback overtime victory at Becker to close out the week.

Vurno and the Blazers return to the field when Elms travels to Bay Path for a conference contest Monday at Ryan Field at 4:00 p.m.
