CHICOPEE, Mass. –The Elms College women's lacrosse team conquered the visiting Daniel Webster Eagles, 19-9, Saturday afternoon at Leary Field. With the win, the Blazers rise to 4-6 on the season and 1-2 in the NECC, while the Eagles fall to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in conference action.

Prior to the contest, Elms honored their departing seniors Kieran Ramsey (Easthampton, Mass.), Ashley Cava (Wilbraham, Mass.), Jillian Pirog (Ludlow, Mass.), Emily Brown (Agawam, Mass.), and graduate Danielle Jez (Westfield, Mass.) for their contributions to the women's lacrosse program.

The Blazers came out in full momentum to start the first with Haley Roberts (Westfield, Mass.) lighting up the scoreboard within the first minute of action off of a Jackie Soucia (Belchertown, Mass) pass. The Eagles fired back quickly gaining a free position opportunity to tally their first goal of the contest off the stick of Kathleen Zimmerman (Monroe, N.C.) at the 24:57 marker. From there the Blazers would start on a nine goal stint spread across the board as each goal was secured for Elms by a different Blazer, in turn giving Elms a 10-1 advantage with 5:12 remaining on the clock for the half. The Eagles would rally within the last five minutes producing two more scores from Taylor St. Jean (Manchester, NH.) and Madeline Rouiler (Pittsfield, Mass.), while Mackenzie Hill (Brownfield, Maine) would close out the scoring efforts for Elms in the first racking in a tally with 1:51 remaining to send the Blazers into the second owning a 11-3 advantage.

Elms was able to keep possession to start off the second half, with Soucia securing the first bullet for the squad off a seamless run down the green. However, the Eagles never stopped fighting as they pushed back with a marker of their own on an unassisted score from Amanda Dargie (Melbourne, Fla.). Dargie would continue on to rack in three more goals in the half for Daniel Webster earning a team high four goals for the Eagles. Nevertheless, Elms would continue on route with fires from Cava (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Mary Dirkes (Chicopee, Mass.) to further push their attractive lead. Brown would close out the second half for Elms scoring within the last twenty seconds off a Hill pass to send the Blazers away owning a 19-9 winning scoreboard.
