
AMCats Beats Women's Hoops in Home Return
CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Elms College Women's Basketball team hosted Anna Maria College in a conference matchup on Wednesday evening at Picknelly Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
At the start of the first quarter, the ball would go back and forth until Anna Maria would put up the first points of the game. First year forward/center Mary Turco (Winthrop, Mass.) would get a defensive rebound. The rebound would get junior forward/center Talia Uribe (South Hadley, Mass.) would pass the ball to sophomore guard Jade Lewis (Orlando, Fla.) who would make a layup. After another back and forth possession, Lewis would make a three point jump shot. Then junior forward Jenny Gorski (Vernon, Conn.) would dunk the ball into the basket. After the AMCats put up some more points, they would foul Turco who would make both free throw attempts. Then graduate student guard Rahmia Johnston (Newtown, Conn.) would pass the ball to first year guard Gabby Wasiewicz (Worcester, Mass.) and would make a three point jump shot. The ball would go back and forth and Anna Maria would be able to put two more points before the end of the first quarter. Going into the second quarter, the Blazers would close a gap with a layup made by Gorski. Then after Elms gets the ball, Lewis would get an offensive rebound and make a tip in. After Anna Maria would widen the gap, Lewis would make a layup. Then Turco would make a tip in after she makes an offensive rebound. Unfortunately, at the end of the first half the Blazers would be down by 17 to the AMCats, 37-20.
At the start of the third quarter the Blazers would put up the first points with a three point jump shot made by Lewis. Then Gorski would steal the ball and would tip the ball in. After Gorski would draw a foul, Lewis would pass the ball to Gorksi who would make a layup.Then Anna Maria would foul Uribe, who would make both free throw attempts. Then junior guard Piper Graham (Lancaster, Penn.) would make a jump shot. After the ball goes back and forth between both teams Johnston would be foul and make her one free throw attempt. After another back and forth, Gorski would make a layup after Uribe made an offensive rebound. Then AMC would foul Lewis, who made both free throw attempts. At the start of the fourth quarter, even the AMCats put up the first points, Gorski would steal the ball and make a layup. Then Johnston would be fouled and make both free throw attempts. Then Graham would pass the ball to Turco who would make a layup. Then Turco would tip the ball in after she made an offensive rebound. After Anna Maria held the lead, Johnston would pass the ball to Gorski who would make another layup. Sophomore guard/forward Shea Barron (Wallingford, Conn.) would make a defensive rebound, which gave Johnston the opportunity to make a layup. Then, Barron would get the ball from Johnston and make a three point jump shot. After Anna Maria put up more points, Wasiewicz would pass the ball to Gorski who would make a layup. Then Wasiewicz would steal the ball away from AMC and would make a layup. Even with a tough game, the Blazers would put up a fight, but unfortunately the AMCats would take home the win 74-55.
