HOW IT HAPPENED
At the start of the first quarter, USJ would be the ones who put up the first four points. However, then junior guard Piper Graham (Lancaster, Penn.) would pass the ball to first year forward/center Mary Turco (Winthrop, Mass.) who would make a jump shot. After the Blue Jays put up some more points, first year guard Gabby Wasiewicz (Worecester, Mass.) would steal the ball and sophomore guard Jade Lewis (Orlando, Fla.) would make a layup. After an unsuccessful offensive possession made by USJ, Lewis would get an defensive rebound, which gave junior forward/center Talia Uribe (South Hadley, Mass.) the opportunity to make a layup. USJ would be able to put up some more points before Turco would get an offensive rebound and would tip the ball in. Then USJ would foul Turco, who would make a free throw attempt. To end the first quarter, graduate student guard Rahmia Johnston (Newtown, Conn.) would make a jump shot. USJ would hold the lead going into the second quarter, 23-11. Unfortunately, that would be the last points for the Blazers in the first half. The Blue Jays would go into the second half in the lead, 47-16.
Going into the 3rd quarter, the Blazers started off strong and put the first points on the board with a jump shot made by Lewis. Then USJ would foul Turco and she would make one out of the two free throw attempts. Uribe would steal the ball away from the Blue Jays and Turco would make a layup. Uribe would steal the ball again and Lewis would be able to make a jump shot. The ball would go back and forth between both teams until Wasiewicz would make a three point jump shot after Uribe would get a defensive rebound. Then after the Blazers got the ball junior forward Jenny Gorski (Vernon, Conn.) would get an offensive rebound and would make a jump shot.
