
Women's Basketball Defeats Regis in the Final Seconds
WESTON, Mass. - The Elms College Women's Basketball team traveled to Regis College for a conference match up on Wednesday evening

HOW IT HAPPENED
At the start of the first quarter, Elms would put up the first points with a tip in after an offensive rebound made by junior forward/center Talia Uribe (South Hadley, Mass.). Uribe would be fouled and would make one out of the two free throw attempts. Then junior guard Piper Graham (Lancaster, Penn.) would make a three point jump shot, which was assisted by sophomore guard Jade Lewis (Orlando, Fla.). Then junior forward Jenny Gorski (Vernon, Conn.) would get a defensive rebound, which gave sophomore guard/forward Shea Barron (Wallingford, Conn.) the opportunity to make a three point jump shot. Graham would make a defensive rebound and Gorski would make a layup. Then graduate student guard Rahmia Johnston (Newton, Conn.) would get a defensive rebound, which gave Gorski the opportunity to make a layup. After, back and forth procession between both teams, Johnson would get another defensive rebound. Then Lewis would make a three point jump shot. Then first year forward/center Mary Turco (Winthrop, Mass.) would make a layup. Regis would then close the gap, but Elms would still hold the leading going into the second quarter, 18-14. At the start of the second quarter, even though the Pride put up the first points, the Blazers would answer back with a layup made by Turco. Then sophomore guard/forward Sophia Andrade (Southwick, Mass.) would get a defensive rebound and then Barron would make a three point jump shot. After another defensive rebound for the Blazer made by Turco, Uribe would be fouled and would make both free throw attempts. After Regis took over the lead, Barron would tie the game with a jump shot. However, Elms would capitalize with a block made by Turco and Lewis would get a defensive rebound, that was followed by an offensive rebound made by Turco who would also tip the ball in. Then Uribe would be fouled and make one out of the two free throw attempts. Uribe would be fouled again and would make both free throw attempts. Then the Pride would foul Johnston and she would make one out of the two free throw attempts. After Regis closes the gap, Johnston would make a layup. To end the second half, Elms would still hold the lead 35-31.
At the start of the third quarter, Elms would put up the first points from a layup made by Uribe, which all started by a defensive rebound made by Turco. After Regis tied the game, Gorski would capitalize with a layup. Then Uribe would be fouled and would make both free throw attempts. After Turco entered back into the back, she would make a layup. After back and forth possessions between both teams Lewis would make a jump shot. Then Johnston would steal the ball and make a three point jump shot. At the end of the third quarter, Regis would close the gap, but Elms would go into the fourth quarter with determination. At the end of the third quarter, Elms would be in the lead 48-46. At the start of the fourth quarter, even though Regis got the first points, Turco would answer back with a layup. Johnston would be fouled again and would make both free throw shots. Then, Uribe would steal the ball away from the Pride and Turco would tip the ball in. Then Turco would be fouled and make the free throw attempt. After another back and forth procession between both teams, Johnston would be fouled and make both free throw attempts. Regis would close the gap, but then Gorski would make a layup. Johnston would be fouled again and make both free throw attempts. After Regis takes the lead, Regis would foul Lewis and she would make both free throw attempts. Regis would take back the lead, but would foul the Blazers again, but this time it was Barron and she would make both free throw attempts. Since Barron made both free throw attempts, the Blazers would take home the win, 65-64.
