Softball Drops Two in Doubleheader with Lesley

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College softball team was back in action for the first time in 393 days on Thursday evening. The Blazers dropped both games of their doubleheader with Lesley University on Cheryl R. Condon Field.

Game One:  Elms 3 – Lesley 9

The visitors got off to a quick start putting up four runs in the top half of the 1st inning. The Blazers answered with two runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning after loading the bases and drawing two consecutive walks. Elms added another run in bottom of the 3rd when Mackenzie Francis (Worcester, MA) grounded out to the Lesley SS, pushing Ashley Papapietro (Windsor Locks, CT) across the plate.

That was as close as the home side would get. The Lynx added three more runs in the 6th and took game one (9-3).

Game Two: Elms 0 – Lesley 19

Game two was all Lesley. The Lynx put up ten runs in the top of the 2nd and never looked back. The Blazers were unable to solve solid pitching from the visitors and were kept off of the board.

Elms is back in action on Sunday 4/11 when they travel to New England College for a doubleheader at 2pm and 4pm.
