Bethany Grimes Selected NECC Softball Pitcher of the Week

CHICOPEE, Mass. - Elms College senior pitcher Bethany Grimes (Terryville, Conn.) was voted as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Softball Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday. This is Grimes' first Player of the Week award of the season.

Grimes was dominant on the mound for the Blazers in a 5-1 conference week for the Blazers. Grimes logged three complete game efforts, including her first career no-hitter in an 8-0 win over Daniel Webster. Bethany registered double-digit strikeouts in all three appearances, including a season-high 13 strikeouts against Becker Sunday afternoon. In 22 innings of work, Grimes allowed two earned runs with 35 strikeouts. At the plate, Grimes was .429 with six hits and four runs scored.

Grimes and the Blazers will be back on the diamond with a 3:45 p.m. first pitch at Springfield College Tuesday afternoon.
