Colson, Grimes Garner NECC Weekly Accolades

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College juniors Jessica Colson (Agawam, Mass.) and Beth Grimes (Terryville, Conn.) garnered New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) weekly accolades in softball as announced by the league organization on Monday.

Colson earned her first NECC Pitcher of the Week award of the season following a split with conference foe Mitchell College on Sunday afternoon. Colson helped the Blazers to a 5-4 victory with seven innings of work in the circle. She allowed four runs (one earned) on five hits and struck out six batters to lift Elms to the victory. This is Colson's first weekly award of the season.

Grimes notched her second weekly honor of the 2013-14 campaign by being named the NECC Player of the Week. Grimes helped Elms to a split against Mitchell going a combined 4 for 7 at the plate (.571) against the Mariners with two runs scored, a double and what proved to be the game-winning run on a home run in game two that gave the Blazers a 5-4 victory.
