Softball Picked Second in 2012 NECC Preseason Poll

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The Elms College softball team was selected to finish second in the 2012 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Preseason Poll as announced by the organization on Thursday.

Elms takes the field this season under 26th-year head coach Cheryl Condon. The Blazers finished 22-15 in 2011 and earned a trip to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship tournament.

Elms was selected to finish second in the preseason voting with 92 points and two first place votes. The Blazers return five and will need to replace three first team all-conference selections from last year's 14-2 squad.

Lesley University. which posted a perfect 16-0 mark in conference play in 2011, finished with 98 points and eight first place votes was chosen by the conference coaches as the favorite for the upcoming NECC softball season.
