Baseball and Softball Each Garner Fourth Seed in Respective NECC Championship Tournaments

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The Elms College baseball and softball teams each earned the fourth seed in their respective 2012 New England Collegiate College (NECC) Championship tournaments as announced by the league office.

The Blazers' baseball team finished the regular season 13-22 overall, 9-9 in NECC action and earned the fourth seed in the upcoming conference tournament. Elms will travel to top seed and tournament host Daniel Webster College (20-17, 13-5 NECC) at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 4.

Becker College earned the second seed in the double-elimination tournament with an overall record of 19-18, 12-6 in NECC action and will play No. 3 Newbury College (21-18, 11-7 NECC) in game two scheduled to begin 3:00 p.m. on Friday.

In softball, Elms secured the fourth seed in the NECC tournament following a 14-17 season and a 10-8 mark in conference play. The Blazers will host Bay Path College (14-25, 9-9 NECC) on Tuesday, May 1 at 4:00 p.m. at Cheryl R. Condon Field in first round action.

Lesley University finished the regular season 25-10 overall record and a perfect 18-0 mark in league action. The Lynx have earned a first round bye and will host the semifinal and final rounds of the tournament at Wellesley College.
