MCLA Beats Men's Soccer in Final Seconds of Play

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - The Elms College Men's Soccer team traveled to the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts for a non-conference matchup on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

In the first half we would see a back and forth possession between MCLA and Elms. First year forward Ibrahim Ayouba (Springfield, Mass.) would have the first shot for the Blazers within the first minute of play. The Blazers would keep the ball in MCLA territory as sophomore defender Nicolas Velasquez (Ellington, Conn.) would have a header minutes after. Then Ayouba would have three shots, junior midfielder Pajorn Drysdale (Nantucket, Mass.) would add another shot, sophomore midfielder Patricio Vidales (Cancun, Mexico) would also have a shot, and junior midfielder Abu Sanu (Freetown, Sierra Leone) would have a shot on goal, adding to the Blazers stats. Then senior midfielder Jamal Hamisi (Nottingham, United Kingdom) would score the first goal for Elms and his first goal of the season, after recieving a pass from Sanu. The goal was assisted by Sanu. The Blazers would then play some defense before Vidales would have another shot on goal. Unfortunately, that would be the last shot made by Elms for the half. At the end of the half, the game would be tied 1-1.

At the start of the second half, the Trailblazers would start with the ball, but then Ayouba would have the first shot for the Blazers. Then Ayouba would have two shots, one being a header, but both were saved by MCLA. Elms would see another header made by senior forward/midfielder Wai Kyaw (West Springfield, Mass.). Sophomore midfielder Andrew Velasquez (Ellington, Conn.) would have his first shot of the game. Followed by another shot made by Kyaw. Kyaw and A. Velasquez would have two shots, which were the last ones made by Elms in the second half. To end the half, MCLA would score with two seconds remaining, which would end the game 2-1, Trailblazers.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Bousquet would have seven saves out of nine shots.

  • The Elms offense would take 18 shots.

UP NEXT: The Elms Men's Soccer team will host Norwich University in a conference match on Saturday, October 26th at 5 PM for their annual Senior Day.
