Men's Soccer Lose to Mitchell on the Road

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Elms College Men's Soccer team visited Mitchell College in a conference matchup Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first half would begin with the Blazers taking the offensive possession and a shot from senior defender Brandyn Costa (Palmer, Mass.) that would be saved by the Mariners goalkeeper. Shortly, Costa connected a pass to sophomore midfielder Patricio Vidales (Cancun, Mexico) to score the first goal of the game. Moments later, Costa would take a second shot that would again be stopped by the goalkeeper. Mitchell would then take back-to-back shots and both shots would be saved by senior goalkeeper Aidan Berube (Chicopee, Mass.). Later in the half, Elms would see shots by Vidales and seniors Jamal Hamisi (Nottingham, United Kingdom) and Joe Chartier (Palmer, Mass.), but the Blazers would go into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.

Elms would carry their offensive momentum into the second half with Hamisi taking the first two shots for the Blazers of the half. The Mariners would take three-straight shots followed by shots by Costa and Vidales. Mitchell would then score two goals in the final seven minutes and they would defeat Elms 2-1.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Berube would make five saves of the seven shots he faced during the game.

  • Vidales would take three shots during the game, including a goal in the first half.

  • Hamisi and Costa would also take three shots with two shots on net, Costa would also add an assist.

UP NEXT: The Elms Men's Soccer team will travel to Boston, Mass. to take on Emmanuel College in a conference matchup on Saturday, October 5th at 3 PM.
