Men’s Soccer Soars Past Daniel Webster College, 4-1

NASHUA, N.H. – Elms College junior forward Adam O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) highlighted three second half goals with a pair of scores to give him 13 on the season and the Blazers netted a total of four unanswered goals to help secure a 4-1 victory over Daniel Webster College in Saturday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's soccer game at Eagle Field in Nashua, N.H.

With the win, Elms improves to 8-7-2 overall, 4-2-1 in NECC action and posts its highest overall win total since the 2006 season. Daniel Webster moves to 5-10-2 on the season, 3-4 in league action. Both teams now await the seedings for the 2012 NECC Championship tournament.

Daniel Webster notched the game's first tally when Elliot Kilgore (Milford, N.H.) scored in the eighth minute of action following a corner kick by Joey Morgan (Windham, N.H.) to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead.

Elms netted the equalizer with just over 15 minutes to play in the first period when senior forward Tavish Leland (Bridgton, Maine) sent a pass to sophomore forward Joseph Coleman (Easthampton, Mass.) who drilled the ball into the back of the net to set the score at 1-1 heading into intermission.

Just eleven minutes into the second frame, Adam O'Grady struck for quick back-to-back goals, and freshman defender Connor O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) followed five minutes later with the Blazers' third goal of the stanza to give Elms a 4-1 advantage.

Elms' defense kept the Eagles out of rhythm for the duration of the contest as Daniel Webster managed just two shots following the Blazers' final scoring tally.

Elms' freshman goalkeeper Nicholson Pennant (Kingston, Jamaica) turned away three of Daniel Webster's four shots on goal, while his counterpart Sal Santa Maria (Thomaston, Conn.) registered five saves for the Eagles.

Each side registered 13 shots, while Daniel Webster held a decisive advantage in corner kicks at 12-3.
