DeGrazia, Rolocut Earn NECC Weekly Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College women’s junior cross country runner Devon DeGrazia (Westport, Mass.) and freshman men’s soccer player Lorenzo Rolocut (Somers, Conn.) were each named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week in their respective sports as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

During the Blazers’ 2012 season opening race at Western New England University on Saturday, DeGrazia led all Elms runners with a time of 23:47.25 in the mixed gender, 5-kilometer race and finished fifth overall among all female racers. This is DeGrazia’s first NECC accolade of the season.

On the soccer pitch, Rolocut broke a 0-0 tie when he scored on a free kick off the foot of sophomore midfielder Josh DiNoto (Branford, Conn.) midway through the second period. The goal stood as the game-winner as Elms completed its second straight win over New England College in the season-opener. This is Rolocut’s first collegiate weekly honor.
