MIDDLETOWN, Conn.  (Nov. 25) - Playing for just the second time, with the first last year in Chicopee, Mass., Wesleyan used a 10-0 run in the first half to turn a 21-18 deficit into a 28-21 lead and never gave up the advantage en route to a 79-55 men's basketball win here tonight.  Wesleyan captured the first meeting between the team by a 74-71 count a year ago.

Wesleyan had four players in double-digit scoring, led by junior Jack Mackey with 17 points as he canned five of his seven attempts from three-point range.  As a team, the Cardinals went a blistering 12-for-23 from long range.  Junior Rashid Epps added 15 points while sophomore Harry Rafferty netted 13 and junior Joe Edmonds chipped in with 11.  Sophomore Joseph Kuo took game-high honors on the boards with eight rebounds.  Junior BJ Davis had a game-best six assists with Mackey contributing five.  For Elms, senior Kenny Lockett was the only Blazer in double-digits with 10 points. Sophomore Conny Ihearahu (Largo, Md.) had six points and a team-leading six caroms.
Though Wesleyan opened up its seven-point lead with 5:38 to go before halftime, Elms trimmed the margin to just two, 30-28, on a junior Kadar Lynch (Springfield, Mass.) second-chance basket with 3:13 to go. But the Cardinals ended the period with the last nine points, including three-pointers by Mackey and Edmonds, to push out to a 39-28 margin at intermission.  After the Blazer narrowed the difference to seven (39-32), Wesleyan scored on nine of its next 11 possessions while Elms scored just three times as the Cardinals extended their lead to 62-38 with 11:20 left behind the 23-6 run. Mackey had a pair of treys to lead the charge.  Wesleyan led by as much as 30 (76-46, 4:12 left) before the final buzzer.
Wesleyan travels to Curry Sat., Nov. 29 for another non-conference outing.  Elms will be off until Tues., Dec. 2 while it hosts Rhode Island College in more non-conference action.
