Women's Cross Country Third at Blazers Invitational

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College women's cross country team finished third on the 15-team leaderboard at the 2014 Blazers Fall Invitational, hosted by Elms at Chicopee Memorial State Park Saturday afternoon.

Three Blazers runner registered top-20 results. Freshman Sarah Tatgenhorst posted another top-10 finish, taking seventh overall with a time of 26:14. Senior Rachel Lehouillier was 12th at 27:22, and senior Diana Borys took 19th with a time of 28:16. Freshman Sarah Kaczenski finished at a time of 29:27 for 23rd, while junior Emma Bernard was eight seconds back at 25th (29:35). Freshman Caitlyn Hoschtetler took 35th (30:23), senior Shirley Ryan was 41st (31:00), freshman Mattie Jordan finished 46th (31:28), and junior Jackie Quetti took 50th (31:58). Former Blazers Jill Bigos (39th) and Amanda Koch (84th) competed as Elms Alumni in the event.

Elms recorded a team score of 80 for third overall. Trinity won the event with a score of 16, having five runners finish in the top six. Johnson & Wales was second at 69. Lesley followed Elms with a 96, trailed by St. Joseph's (161), Massachusetts Maritime (200), Framingham State (219), MCLA (223), Bay Path (265), Daniel Webster (277), Newbury (283), and Regis (292). Mount Ida and Hampshire had incomplete scores.

The Blazers will return to the cross country course at the James Early Invitational, hosted by Westfield State on October 11th.
