Women’s Swimming Splits With Husson University, St. Joseph College (Conn.)

HARTFORD, Conn. – Elms College sophomore Tessa Dudunake (Northampton, Mass.) won three events to help pace the Blazers to a split in Saturday's women's swimming double dual meet hosted by St. Joseph College (Conn.) with Husson University.
Elms defeated Husson, 97-22 and lost to St. Joseph, 83-46 to improve to 11-2 on the season. St. Joseph completed the sweep with a 103-24 win over the Eagles.
Dudunake won the 100-yard individual medley (1:06.23) and added victories in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events with respective times of 26.16 and 58.49.
Junior Katie Roberts (Torrington, Conn.) clocked a first place time of 35.78 in the 50-yard breaststroke, while sophomore Chalis Bird (Windsor, Mass.) notched a pair of second place swims in the 50-yard backstroke (32.37) and the 100-yard freestyle (59.28). Sophomore Emalee Furtek (Ludlow, Mass.) added a second place tally in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 31.26.
The 200-yard medley relay team of senior Theresa Pitassi (Naugatuck, Conn.), Dudunake, Furtek and Bird touched the wall in a second place time of 2:02.73, while the 200-yard freestyle relay squad of Pitassi, freshman Julia Lane (West Springfield, Mass.), Roberts and Furtek finished second with a mark of 1:58.90.
Saturday's meet concludes the women's regular season. Up next is the three-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships beginning on Friday, Feb. 18-20 in White River Junction, Vt.
