Women’s Soccer Tops Nichols Behind Foucault’s Brace

Dudley, MA – The Elms College women's soccer team stepped onto the field for a game for the first time in 503 days on Sunday morning. The Blazers traveled to Nichols College and came home with a 3-2 victory.

The home side took a (1-0) lead in the 8th minute off a set piece. Morgan Foucault (Putnam, CT) even things up in the 43 minute for Elms. Foucault was sent in one on one with the Nichols keeper and tucked a shot into the side netting after receiving a perfect through ball from Kayla Pasquel (North Attelboro).

The Bison jumped back out in front (2-1) only 90 seconds later after being awarded a penalty kick and converting. Elms didn't wait around long and tied the game for a second time (2-2) at the 47 minute mark. The second goal of the game for Elms was very similar to the first. This time it was Abby Goodnow (Chesterfield, MA) sending in Elaina Vilar (Watertown, CT) for a breakaway, with Vilar sliding a shot pass the Nichols keeper.

Foucault was not done and added the game winner with 23 minutes remaining in the game. Foucault hunted down a loose ball in the box and hammered it past the Nichols keeper giving the Blazers a (3-2) advantage.

Angela Picheo (Wood-Ridge, NJ) and Hannah DelGuidice (Oakland, ME) split time in goal for the Blazers.

The Blazers outshot the Bison by a count of 19-7.

Elms is back in action on Wednesday at 7pm when they host division II American International College on Leary Field.
