Lesley University Edges Women’s Soccer, 1-0 in Overtime

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Elms College sophomore goalkeeper Alexa Rinaudo (Bellmore, N.Y.) made 10 saves but Lesley University's Isabella Vidana (San Marcos, Calif.) scored the game-winner three minutes into overtime to lift the Lynx to a 1-0 overtime victory in Saturday evening's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's soccer game at BB&N in Cambridge, Mass.

With the loss, Elms moves to 2-5-1 on the season, 1-1-0 in NECC play, while Lesley improves to 8-1-1 overall, 2-0 in NECC action.

After playing 90 minutes of scoreless soccer that saw Lesley outshoot the Blazers, 11-1 in the first half and 8-5 in the second half, the Lynx netted the game winner when Morgan Zack (Bellevue, Wash.) connected with Vidana who finished with her first goal of the season in the 93rd minute of play.

Rinaudo made six of her saves in the first half and added four in the second frame while her counterpart Jackie Berard (Coventry, R.I.) made both of her stops in the second half.

Four minutes into the second stanza, freshman forward Kylen O'Hearn (Somers, Conn.) fired a shot that Berard steered aside, and in the 61st minute, sophomore midfielder Melissa Welch (Westfield, Mass.) targeted a shot that Berard saved to keep the game level at 0-0.

Elms returns to non-conference action on Tuesday, October 1 when it travels to Wesleyan University (Conn.) for a 4:30 p.m. tilt.
