Women's Lacrosse Drops Regular Season Finale at Becker

LEICESTER, Mass. – Senor Tatum Fahs (Foster, RI) poured in six points (3 goals, 3 assists) to lead the Becker College women's lacrosse team to a 13-4 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) victory over visiting Elms College on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Before the rival match-up the Hawks honored six seniors, Amy Giguere (Colrain, Mass.), Lisabeth Madden (Saco, Maine), Kaitlyn Rose (North Attleboro, Mass.),  captain Alyssa Bond (Thompson, Conn.), captain Karena Prescott (New Bedford, Mass.) and captain Tatum Fahs for their contributions to the Lady Hawks' lacrosse team.

After an opening marker off the stick of Blazers' Jill Pirog (Ludlow, Mass.) for an early 1-0 lead for Elms, Becker netted three straight goals. Victory Belcher tossed in her 38th and 39th goal of the season sandwiched around a Fahs' score to give the Hawks a 3-1 lead. Elms would cut the deficit to 3-2 when Nora McDonough (South Hadley, Mass.) added her 32nd goal of the season with 16:34 to play. A pair of goals each from Kailee Ruyack (Beacon, NY) and Rachel Welling (Charlestown, NH) would lead the Hawks to an 8-2 lead heading into halftime. Ruyack and Welling would both finish the day with four goals a piece.

The Hawks would extend the lead to 11-2 with goals from Welling, Belcher and Ruyack to open the second half. McDonough added her second of the game for Elms to make it an 11-3 game with 16:49 to play, but it wasn't enough as the Hawks pulled away for the 13-4 final.

The Hawks outshot the Blazers by a 39-13 margin and forced 33 turnovers on the day. Senor Bond led all players with 6 ground balls, while Prescott posted seven saves for her ninth win of the season. Elms' netminder Meeghan O'Connor had 13 saves in the loss.

Both teams have qualified for the NECC post-season, seeding will be announced by the league on Sunday night.
