Marques Receives NECC Weekly Accolade

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College senior Alexandra Marques (Newington, Conn.) has been selected as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday. This is Marques' first career NECC Player of the Week honor.

In a 64-48 non-conference win over Mount Holyoke last week, Marques delivered a career-day, logging her first 20-20 performance with a career-high 20 points and a career-high 22 rebounds to power the Blazers to victory. Marques added two assists, two steals and two blocks in the win. For the season, Marques is averaging 10.8 points and 13.0 rebounds across Elms' opening four games.

Marques and the Blazers will be back on the court with their 2016-17 NECC opener against Newbury College at Picknelly Arena Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
