O'Grady Named NECC Player of the Year as Five Blazers Earn All-Conference

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms junior defender Connor O'Grady (Somers, Conn.) was selected as the 2014 New England Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Year, while four other member of the Blazers squad received All-Conference honors, announced by the league office Monday morning.

Junior midfielder Lorenzo Rolocut (Somers, Conn.) joined O'Grady on the All-Conference First Team, while junior forward Safa Saady (Chicopee, Mass.) was elected to the Second Team, and senior defender Anthony Nitri (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and freshman midfielder CJ Dabkowski (Bristol, Conn.) received Honorable Mention status.

O'Grady becomes the first Blazers player to win the NECC Player of the Year award, since Elms joined the NECC in 2008. O'Grady led the Blazers offensive attack, registering team-high in points (23), goals (8), and assists (7), all of which were career-high numbers for O'Grady. Connor led the NECC in points, while finishing second in goals and third in assists.

Rolocut earn his first First Team selection after recording five goals and five assists for 15 points during his junior campaign. Saady claimed All-Conference designation for the second straight season, following last year's First Team choice with a Second Team honor this season. Saady tallied seven points on the year with three goals and an assist. Nitri wrapped up his Elms College career with his first All-Conference selection after helming the Blazers defensive backfield in 17 of 20 games with a pair of assists. In his first collegiate season, Dabkowski contributed nine points with a pair of goals and five assists, second-most on the team.
