Men's Soccer Plays to a 2-2 Double Overtime Draw with Colby-Sawyer

Chicopee, Mass. - Junior forwards Connor O'Grady and Joseph Coleman found the back of the net at the 52nd and 87th minute to force overtime that ended in a 2-2 tie in Friday night's non-conference home opener against Colby-Sawyer at Leary Field.

A perfect New England day turned into an event filled night as a loud and vocal crowd cheered for the 2014 Elms College Men's Soccer team in the season home opener. The large crowd gathered under the lights watched the Blazers battle and force double overtime against Colby-Sawyer. Colby-Sawyer took control early with a 2-0 lead. Elms managed to tie the game with two late goals. Elms College goalkeeper Ryan Harris had a solid start to his Elms College career by recording five of his eight saves in the second period. Both Elms and Colby-Sawyer had opportunities to score in the two 10 minute extra sessions but were unable to break the tie. Colby-Sawyer had a slight edge in shots with an overall 18-17 advantage including ten of those during the second period.

With the tie, Elms is 0-0-1 on the season. Elms will return to the field on Sept 3rd at Leary Field as they take on Fitchburg State at 7:00 pm.
