CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College men's soccer team was held scoreless in a non-conference match against visiting Amherst College, 3-0, at Leary Field Tuesday night.

After a back-and-forth contest for the opening portion of the first half, the Jeffs broke the scoreless tie in the 18th minute as junior forward Greg Singer (San Jose, Calif.) chipped a loose ball into the Blazers box, where freshman forward Kieran Bellew (Invercargill, New Zealand) raced past a defender and fired a shot past Elms junior goalie Nick Pennant (St. Andrews, Jamaica), to give Amherst a 1-0 lead.

With 14:26 to play in the opening stanza, the Jeffs extended their lead to 2-0 as sophomore midfielder Forest Sisk (Sudbury, Mass.) launched a corner kick to the front of the Elms net, where sophomore defender Cameron Bean (Atlanta, Ga.) volleyed the ball into the back of the goal. History would repeat itself in the 70th minute as Sisk and Bean connected on another corner kick opportunity to lift Amherst to a 3-0 win.

The Jeffs edged the Blazers in the shot column, 18-9, during the contest. Pennant made a game-high six saves for Elms, while Amherst junior goalie Thomas Bull (Montgomery, N.J.) stopped five shots.

The Blazers move to 4-6-2 on the season, while Amherst improved to 8-0-2 overall. Elms will return to the pitch in a New England Collegiate Conference matchup with Wheelock at Leary Field. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
