Baseball Announces Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic Schedule in Fort Myers, Fla.

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College baseball program under second-year head coach Nathan Bashaw recently announced its 2012 spring break slate at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Blazers will play 10 games beginning on Sat. March 10 and ending on Friday, March 16.

Elms begins Cusic Classic action with a double-header against Central College (Iowa) on March 10 with the first of two seven-inning games to begin at 12:00 p.m. and the second to start at 3:00 p.m. The double header marks the first-ever meeting between the schools.

The Blazers will play a pair of single games against opponents they played during the 2010 Gene Cusic Classic: Dubuque University on March 14, and Olivet College on March 16. Elms lost to Dubuque, 13-11 and defeated Olivet, 13-12.

Elms will also play four more teams for the first time including a 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. double-header against Scranton University on March 11, a single game versus Kenyon University on March 12 (9:00 a.m.), a single game with St. Lawrence University (1:00 p.m.), and a double-header against Otterbein University at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The Blazers return to Massachusetts on March 19 when it opens New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play with a double-header at Lesley University. Elms' home opener is set for March 24 when it hosts Becker College for a twinbill at MacKenzie Stadium in Holyoke, Mass.
