Johnson Takes NECC Rookie Of The Week Honor After Dominant Week

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College junior Jake Johnson picked up New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week honors after a dominant performance in a trio of Elms wins during the week.

Johnson (Warwick, R.I.) torched opponents with 26 kills and just two errors. He hit .774 with 3.71 kills per set and added 1.00 blocks per set in three Elms victories. Elms extended its win-streak to five contests and finished 10-2 in NECC play.

Johnson was nearly perfect in a win over SVC, picking up nine kills without an error on 10 attempts, while also tallying 11 kills on 14 attempts and six kills on seven attempts in NECC matches against Lesley and Newbury during the week.

Elms secured the No. 2 seed in this week’s NECC Tournament, where they will host Eastern Nazarene at 7:00 p.m. on April 12.
