Men's Soccer Overwhelmed By Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, Conn.—Junior All-American Pat Devlin (Washington Crossing, Pa.) had two goals and one assist to lead the Connecticut College men's soccer team in a 7-0 victory against Elms College on Freeman Field today.
Devlin closed out the week with 10 points on four goals and two assists. The Camels improved their record to 3-1 with the win, while the Blazers slipped to 0-6 in the loss.
Sophomore Ben Manoogian (Peabody, Mass.) also contributed with two goals and an assist for the hosts. Ousmane Dieng (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Freddie Yao (San Francisco, Calif.) both had a goal and an assist in the triumph for the Camels. Christian Murphy(Newport News, Va.) chipped in with a score for the winning side.
Freshman Liam Lofgren (Westbury, N.Y.) made one save in 73:52 of action to earn the win for the Camels. Max Chesky (Holyoke, Mass.) played the closing 16:08 without having to make a stop. Connecticut College enjoyed a 30-to-2 advantage on the shot chart and had an 8-to-1 edge on corner kicks.
Manoogian scored the only goal of the first stanza in the 12th minute of action when he re-directed a header from Nate Summers (Westfield, Mass.) into the netting to make it a 1-0 game. But the Camels erupted with three goals in a 2:49 span at the beginning of the second half to pull away. Dieng knocked in a rebound of a Devlin blast at the far post 1:14 into the half. Just 20 seconds later, Manoogian assisted Devlin on a 20 yard blast and it the Camels were in control with a 3-0 advantage. Then, in the 50th minute of play, Manoogian took a pass from Dieng and tapped the ball over the top of Elms College net-minder Tyler Graves (Monson, Mass.).
Yao assisted Devlin for his second score of the half in the 69th minute and Murphy and Yao closed out the scoring with goals coming 1:15 apart to close out the 7-0 win.
Graves finished with 13 saves for the Blazers. Elms College junior forward Donald Whittle (Somers, Conn.) and Michael Campos (Naugatuck, Conn.) both had shots in the loss for the visitors.
