Men's Soccer Unveils 2016 Schedule

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College men's soccer Head Coach Ben Massé (second season) has released the Blazers schedule for the upcoming 2016 fall season. The Blazers have 16 regular season matches on their slate, including eight New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) contests and seven tilts at Leary Field.

The Green and Gold returns in 2016 after falling to Newbury College, on penalty kicks, in the 2015 NECC Championship semifinals. The Blazers posted an 8-10-1 overall record to earn their fifth straight postseason appearance.

Elms opens the season on September 1 at Leary Field against Manhattanville College, where the Blazers will face the Valiants for the first time since the 1999 season. The Blazers will hit the road for three non-conference matches at Springfield (Sept. 7), Johnson & Wales (Sept. 14), and Connecticut College (Sept. 17). Elms returns to Leary for four of their next five games, including their NECC opener against Mitchell College on September 24 and non-conference battles against Worcester State (Sept. 21) and Fitchburg State (Sept. 28).

The Blazers will be on the road for five of their eight games in October, closing their home-stand against Wheelock on October 1. The squad will make their first trip to Western New England since 2002 on October 4, and then will look for postseason redemption against Newbury on October 11. The Blazers face a tough three-match stretch when they host Lesley at Leary Field on October 15, followed by road tests at Southern Vermont (Oct. 19) and two-time defending NECC champion Daniel Webster on October 22. Elms will face Becker in their home finale on October 26, followed by a trip to Regis to close out the regular season on October 29.

The NECC Tournament begins with First Round matches on November 2, followed by the semifinal matches on November 4, and the Championship match on November 6.
