Men's Soccer Blanks Wheelock

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Wheelock College Men's Soccer team fell to the visiting Blazers of Elms College, 5-0 this afternoon at Winsor Field. With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 0-1 in conference play, while Elms improves to 1-1 in the New England Collegiate Conference.

It only took a minute for the Blazers to get on the board, as sophomore Mike DiPasquale (Meriden, Conn.) converted a slip from sophomore Donald Whittle (Somers, Conn.) at 0:57. Freshman Shaquille Robinson (New York, N.Y.) then doubled the Elms lead to 2 as he booted a ball into the corner of the net at 13:23. Elms was able to head into halftime enjoying a 4-0 lead as a result of a pair of Whittle goals at 21:33 and 24:05.

Wheelock played solid defensively for the majority of the second half, as they held Elms scoreless until the 87th minute. DiPasquale sealed the 5-0 victory for the Blazers, grabbing a rebound and depositing the ball at 87:49.

Jordan Bernard (Westbrook, Conn.) was sharp between the pipes, turning aside 23 of Elms' shots on goal. Nicholson Pennant (Saint Andrew, Jamaica) earned his third win of the season, stopping 3.

Wheelock returns to action tomorrowOctober 4, as they host the University of Maine- Machias at 3:00 pm. Elms plays tomorrow as well, travelling to Bowdoin for a 1:00 pm contest.
