Baseball Tabbed Fifth in 2013 NECC Preseason Poll
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Elms College baseball team was selected to finish fifth in the 2013 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Preseason Poll as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
The Blazers are led by third-year head coach Nathan Bashaw who guided Elms to the NECC Championship tournament semifinals in 2012.
Elms returns seven starters from last year's squad including senior outfielder Stephen Fisher (West Boylston, Mass.) who picked up his 100th hit last season, and senior pitchers Ryan Burnette (Chicopee, Mass.) and John Russell (Springfield, Mass.). Burnette registered a 4-1 record on the hill with 31 strikeouts, while Russell went 1-1 on the mound and issued 26 strikeouts.
