Fisher Selected as NECC Representative to National SAAC Convention

CHICOPEE, Mass. – Elms College senior baseball player and Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) member Steve Fisher (West Boylston, Mass.) was selected to represent the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) at the National SAAC Convention in Grapevine, Texas.

The January meeting which takes place from Jan. 17-19 is held in conjunction with the NCAA National Convention giving the SAAC an opportunity to interact directly with college athletics leaders.

"When I received the call from Coach [Nathan] Bashaw with the chance to be flown down to discuss certain topics with other SAAC representatives I was honored," Fisher said. "Having the chance to go to another part of the country to network with lots of different people is going to be a great experience. The event is a couple of days long so each day will be packed with things to do and learn.

"I am hoping to learn more about what is going on in our Division along with the rest of the NCAA" Fisher stated. "I also look forward to seeing Louise McCleary, our past Athletic Director at Elms who now works for the NCAA."

Fisher, a three-year starter in centerfield for the Blazers and an elected captain for 2013, is one of only five players in Elms baseball history to record more than 100 hits (114 through three seasons). Fisher has started all 104 games he has played in during his career at Elms and has a collegiate-career batting average of .302. He has also scored 90 runs, notched 21 doubles, 11 triples, driven in 60 runs, earned 73 walks and is 29 for 31 in stolen base attempts.
