Cross Country Competes at New England Division III Championship

GORHAM, Maine – The Elms College men's and women's cross country teams completed their 2013 campaigns at the New England Division III Championship hosted by the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, Maine on Saturday afternoon.

Williams College placed first with 77 points, while Middlebury College (78) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) comprised the top three teams in the field of 50 scoring teams.

Connecticut College's Michael LeDuc won the men's 8-kilometer race with a time of 24:21.03 ahead of the Ephs' Colin Cotton (24:24.08) and Chris Lee (24:41.16).

Elms' sophomore Adam Kuzdzal (Chicopee, Mass.) led the Blazers with a time of 32:17.46, followed by senior Jesse Zina (Ludlow, Mass.) with a mark of 33:37.87 and freshman Joseph Sirois (South Easton, Mass.) who notched a time of 34:21.44.

Williams also won the women's overall meet with a score of 44 points, followed by Middlebury (57) and MIT (127) who made up the top three of 53 scoring teams.

The Ephs' Kaleigh Kenny clocked a time of 21:02.18 to win the women's 6-kilomete race, while Hannah Zydanowicz of Roger Williams University and Elaine McVay of MIT registered respective times of 21:10.50 and 21:18.94 to place second and third overall.

Blazers' freshman Samantha White (Tolland, Mass.) crossed the line first for Elms in a time of 28:32.73, followed by junior Emily Taylor (Ludlow, Mass.) (32:55.53), junior Maddie Boehm (Sutton, Mass.) clocked a 35:38.69 and senior Stephanie Konstantinidis (Holyoke, Mass.) finished in a time of 37:35.03.
