Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Compete at Wildcat Invitational

MARCY, N.Y. – The Elms College men's cross country team did not register a team score and the women's team, led by a time of 23:29 by senior Devon DeGrazia (Westport, Mass.) earned a 10th place finish at the seventh annual Wildcat Invitational hosted by SUNY IT on Saturday afternoon.

On the men's side, SUNY IT's Derek Struck set his own course record with a time of 19:39 in the 6-kilometer race to win top honors.

SUNY ESF scored a total of 33 points to win the team event, followed by Utica College (65) and SUNY IT (70) to round out the top three in the 14-team field.

Elms' sophomore Adam Kuzdzal (Chicopee, Mass.) led the Blazers with a time of 26:30, while freshman Joshua Rolon (Chicopee, Mass.) turned in a time of 30:50.

On the women's side, Ashton Villeneuve of Utica clocked a winning time of 19:27 in the women's 5-kilometer race, while SUNY Oswego earned 45 points to win the team event. Utica (62) and William Smith College (83) rounded out the top three in the 14-team field.

For the Blazers, DeGrazia placed 46th overall, followed by junior Rachel Lehouillier (Belchertown, Mass.) (24:15), freshman Samantha White (Tolland, Mass.) (25:01), junior Shirley Ryan (Brimfield, Mass.) (25:56), senior Kerry Ashe (Springfield, Mass.) (25:59), sophomore Jacqueline Quetti (Pittsfield, Mass.) (28:16), senior Gabrielle Calvanese (Agawam, Mass.) (28:17), sophomore Emma Bernard (Springfield, Mass.) (28:33), junior Emily Taylor (Ludlow, Mass.) (32:52), senior Stephanie Konstantinidis (Holyoke, Mass.) (34:01) and junior Maddie Boehm (Sutton, Mass.) with a time of 37:19.  

Elms returns to action on Saturday, September 7 at the Smith College Invitational.
