Cross Country Competes at ECAC Division III New England Championship

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Elms College men's and women's cross country teams compete at the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I. and hosted by Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon.

Neither Elms team registered a team score.

On the men's side, Williams College (26) led the field of 46 scoring teams, followed by Tufts University (75) and Amherst College (84) as the top three teams.

Williams placed first, second and third with Cole Townsend winning the men's 8-kilomter race with a time of 25:43.08.

For the Blazers, sophomore Adam Kuzdzal (Chicopee, Mass.) clocked a time of 33:22.97, freshman Joseph Sirois (South Easton, Mass.) notched a time of 33:26.18, senior Jesse Zina (Ludlow, Mass.) tabbed a 34:44.38 and freshman Joshua Rolon (Chicopee, Mass.)secured a time of 35:36.32.

On the women's side, Middlebury College placed first among the 47 scoring teams with 30 points, while Williams (54) and Tufts (111) rounded out the top three teams.

Middlebury's Catie Skinner won the women's 6-kilometer race with a time of 22:30.58.

For Elms, freshman Samantha White (Tolland, Mass.) clocked a time of 28:51.62, and juniorEmily Taylor (Ludlow, Mass.) notched a time of 31:50.56.

Elms returns to action for the final event of the 2013 season at the New England Division III Championship hosted by the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, Maine.
