Women’s Cross Country Places Sixth at Southern Vermont College Invitational

BENNINGTON, Vt. – Elms College senior Devon DeGrazia (Westport, Mass.) clocked a time of 23:11 and finished ninth overall to help lead the Blazers' women's squad to a sixth place finish. Elms' men's squad did not register a team score during Saturday afternoon's cross country invitational hosted by Southern Vermont College in Bennington, Vt.

On the women's side, Williams College (60) won the event followed by Castleton State College (66), Paul Smith's College (69), Bard College (110), SUNY Canton (120), Elms (153), MCLA (155) and Southern Vermont (179).

Paul Smith's Chloe Mattilio won the individual women's race with a time of 21:03.

Elms' freshman Samantha White (Tolland, Mass.) notched a season-best time of 24:57 and finished 19th overall. Senior Kerry Ashe (Springfield, Mass.) (27:01), senior Gabrielle Calvanese (Agawam, Mass.) (28:34), sophomore Emma Bernard (Springfield, Mass.) (29:44), junior Emily Taylor (Ludlow, Mass.) (31:13), senior Stephanie Konstantinidis (Holyoke, Mass.) (35:52) and Maddie Boehm (Sutton, Mass.) (37:04 – PR) rounded out the Blazers' lineup.

In the men's race, Castleton State won the team event with 37 points highlighted by Isaac French's first place finish in a time of 17:56. SUNY Canton (79), Southern Vermont (92), Williams (116), MCLA (125), Paul Smith's (138), Bard (139) and HVCC (171) followed in the eight team field.

Elms' sophomore Adam Kuzdzal (Chicopee, Mass.) clocked a time of 22:49 and freshman Joshua Rolon (Chicopee, Mass.) crossed the line in 24:24 for the Blazers.

The cross country teams are back in action on Saturday, September 28 at the Blazer Invitational at Chicopee Memorial State Park. The women's varsity race is slated for 10:30 a.m. with the men's race scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
