Cross Country Teams Compete at James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Elms College senior Devon DeGrazia (Westport, Mass.) clocked a time of 21:55 to finish 142nd overall which marks the eighth fastest time by an Elms runner on any 5-kilometer course on Saturday afternoon at the James Earley Cross Country Invitational hosted by Westfield State University.

Williams College won the women's race with a combined score of 46, while Roger Williams University's Hannah Zydanowicz was the top finisher with a time of 18:02.

On the men's side, Babson College's Mark Gulesian legged out a time of 25:59 to win the men's 8-kilometer race, while host Westfield State (77) won the team event.

Elms' junior Rachel Lehouillier (Belchertown, Mass.) was the second Blazers' runner to finish (22:53), followed by sophomore Emma Bernard (Springfield, Mass.) (23:54), freshman Samantha White (Tolland, Mass.) (24:20), junior Shirley Ryan (Brimfield, Mass.) (24:28), senior Kerry Ashe (Springfield, Mass.) (24:34), junior Emily Taylor (Ludlow, Mass.) (26:07) and junior Maddie Boehm (Sutton, Mass.) (28:39).

For the men's team, sophomore Adam Kuzdzal (Chicopee, Mass.) finished with a time of 34:00, freshman Joey Sirois (South Easton, Mass.) clocked a time of 36:44 and freshman Joshua Rolon (Chicopee, Mass.) registered a time of 36:56 for the Blazers.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday, October 19 at the Western New England University Invitational in Springfield, Mass. The women's race is set for 10:30 a.m. with the men's race to follow at 11:15 a.m.
