Swimming Hosts Regis In Final Home Meet

Chicopee, MA - The Blazers returned to competition on 1/18/2020 for the final home meet of the season. The Blazers started the meet recognizing the seniors from Elms and Regis College. The Blazers split the home meet with the Men picking up a win 123-83, and the Women losing 157-91.

Cricket Cavar (Vernon, CT) scored the first win for the Blazers in the 800 Freestyle. MIchael Losardo (Pittsfield, MA) followed that win up with a very close victory in the 200 Freestyle, in season best time fashion.

Brittany North (Palmer, MA) also won the 200 Freestyle in a season best time. She scored two other wins in the 100 Butterfly and 50 Butterfly later in the meet. While winning the 100 Fly, she set a new school record, shaving 2.9 seconds off the previous mark. North followed up her new school record with yet another record breaking performance in the 50 Fly. Both records were previously held by Devon Degrazia, a recent Elms College Athletic Hall of Fame inductee.

Julianne Gordon and Ryan Nodell (Monson, MA) swam two very strong 100 Freestyles, both in season best times. During the 400 Free, Losardo returned to the pool to pick up another win for the Blazers. Kelly Scianna (Milford, CT) and Eddie Helldorfer (Brunswick, ME) also picked up wins late in the meet in the 100IM and 50 Fly respectively.

To finish the meet, two heats of exhibition mixed relays were swam for the first time in Elms College history. The team of Scianna, North, Nodell and Helldorfer put together a great 200 Free Relay in a time of 1:55.48.

The Blazers return to competition on 1/25/2020 for their final dual meet of the season at the University of New England.
