The Elms College softball team had two players named All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) including junior Beth Grimes (Terryville, Conn.) who was named both NECC Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year.

Elms College junior shortstop Gina DiGiovanni (Springfield, Mass.) cranked a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the seventh to give the Blazers a 2-1 lead, but Newbury College used a walk-off grand slam from Emily Humphries (Westborough, Mass.) to give the fourth-seeded Nighthawks a 5-2 victory over the fourth-seeded Blazers in Wednesday afternoon’s New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship First Round contest.
Softball Notches Double Header Split with Newbury College

The Elms College softball team played to a double header split with Newbury College on Monday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action. The Nighthawks posted a 2-1 win in game one, before the Blazers responded with a 5-1 victory in game two.
